You fill up my senses is a great description of how many people feel when they hear the music of John Denver. This show will rekindle the wonderful feeling when John used to sing to us. Mack Baily was fortunate to share a stage with John Denver, and Chris Nole toured with John as his piano player for many years.  This is a wonderfully intimate performance by two of John’s friends and some of the most sincere performers of John Denver’s music.

With his strong, expressive, classically trained tenor voice, Mack Bailey, is a nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter who has performed all over the world as a member of the renowned folk group, The Limeliters. As a member of The Hard Travelers and “Tribute to John Denver” productions, Mack has sung with dozens of folk and country stars, as well as performing with his wife Rachel Levy as duo. With a masters degree in music therapy, Mack currently resides in Aspen, Colorado where he has a private practice working with the Aspen School District and with his 501(c)(3), Music Therapy of the Rockies. www.mackbailey.com

Accomplished pianist, songwriter, and performer, Chris Nole, has worked with some of the biggest names in music. Nole recorded and toured internationally with folk/pop superstar John Denver in the 1990s until October 1997. Residing in Tennessee, Chris keeps busy as a music producer and session musician.  www.chrisnole.com

Mountain Chalet Aspen- 5th Floor Conference Room , 333 E. Durant Ave., Aspen, CO

MUSIC ALERT! MUSIC ALERT! Aspen in October is right around the corner - it's time to make our plans to get together and celebrate the life and music of JOHN DENVER! You're cordially invited to join me for an evening to do just that -- listen to and sing John's music at the top of our lungs like some sort of big JD-loving choir! What a wonderful, vast catalog of unique and fantastic songs John left us -- let's dig into it! I'll be playing a 2-1/2 hour set on Thursday, Oct 5th, sharing some of your favorite songs. Also a few of MY own favorites, whether you like them or not(!) Joining me onstage this year will be a few guest musicians for a song or three. This year I'll be going for a more simple acoustic sound, with just vocals and guitars for light accompaniment. When asked about the simple, straightforward nature of his music in an era of 70's classic rock and disco, John once said, "I prefer the art of gentle musical persuasion." That philosophy has guided my musical career and remains my favorite style. I hope you'll set aside an extra $20 so you can attend my show! I'd love to help make your visit in Aspen a pleasant and memorable experience, as we enjoy together some of the best music ever written -- the music of John Denver! Date and time: Thursday Oct. 5th, 6:30-9:00 pm MDT Location: The 'Mountain View Room', Mountain Chalet 5th floor (General admission $20 donation. No advance sales, please pay at the door - cash only in USD, please) THANK YOU so much! Ron

John and Mardy – A Special Friendship

October 2023 will be 20 years since Mardy Murie passed away, at age 101 and still living in her cabin in the Tetons. Mardy was a magnificent champion for the natural world and was bestowed basically every environmental award that could be given. John Denver greatly admired Mardy, was able to spend time with her and wrote a song about her and beloved husband Olas, an equally renown environmentalist. One of John’s last concerts in 1997 was for the Mardy Murie Film Benefit, in Jackson, Wyoming.

In 2001, I had the great honor of meeting Mardy Murie when she was 99 years old and talked with her about her friendship with John Denver. I was given a special tour of her home and also talked with others who were part of Mardy and John’s friendship. A few years later I was part of the Windstar volunteers who helped renovate the cabin John stayed in when visiting Mardy, and also wrote a book about Mardy. This October, in honor of Mardy’s 20 year passing, I will share memories, special photos and stories about her wonderful life and friendship with John Denver.

“John and Mardy” will be October 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the Mountain Chalet Aspen in the 5th Floor Conference Room. Come join the special presentation about Mardy Murie and her friendship with John Denver. – JP McDaniel
