John Denver and Tom Crum created the Windstar Foundation in 1976 and soon purchased approximately 1,000 acres in Old Snowmass that would serve as the hub for many creative and innovative ideas and activities. The land evolved into the Windstar Land Conservancy and is protected as a nature conservancy and hiking area.
